The Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington is one of the largest metropolitan JCCs in the country. Our mission is to promote Jewish continuity and identity, and create community in an atmosphere of warmth and meaning. We inspire and connect people of all ages and backgrounds through educational, cultural and recreational opportunities in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Our building boasts state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. Members and visitors enter the building through the spacious, two-story lobby allowing easy access to the membership and registration offices, box office and the fully computerized Kass Judaic Library. A computer resource center features computer classes for adults and children. The Weiner Judaic Museum cases are filled with Judaic memorabilia while the Goldman Art Gallery hosts a myriad of exhibits throughout the year. The Teen Center attracts young people with its big-screen television, computers and games. The Health & Wellness area is filled with the latest equipment. Our locker room facilities rival the finest spa.

 

The JCC is a neighborhood — a place to feel comfortable, make new friends and meet up with old friends. It is a place to learn a new skill, discuss a book, get fit, shmooze, listen to a concert or attend a dance production. On any given day, you might hear preschoolers singing to senior adults, or Russian speakers practicing English; you might see teens on their way to work on a community service project or budding ballerinas gliding across a dance floor; or you might smell the freshly-baked challah sold on Fridays.

 

The JCC is among the largest local beneficiary agencies of The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, offering a wide variety of programs and classes throughout the year. Each day, the JCC’s programs and facilities serve more than 2,500 people of varying backgrounds and ages.

 

The JCC is THE place for social, recreational and cultural activities for all ages and all stages of the community. With more than 2,000 diverse programs, services and classes offered each year, every individual and family can create their own personal JCC experience. Some of our highlights include:

Our History
The Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington was created in 1913 and incorporated in 1923.  Our mission —  promoting Jewish continuity and identity, and creating community in an atmosphere of warmth and meaning — is at the heart of all programs.

 

JCC membership is open to everyone, regardless of race, religion, age or ability. Our diverse activities and services offer a natural gateway to Jewish life. The JCC of Greater Washington is an active member of the JCC Association, a network of more than 200 JCCs across North America. The JCC of Greater Washington has received numerous awards for innovative programming, and is nationally recognized as a role model for its inclusion programming for children and adults with special needs, including the award-winning Camp JCC.
